SCDC (South Coast Development Council) showed an operating deficit of $17K for fiscal year ending 2012 and this year lost another $30K when the Port of Coos Bay opted not to contribute to membership in the economic development group. 
Budget shortfalls may explain why Sandy Messerle, wife of former interim commissioner Fred Messerle, is no longer employed by the agency.
