The propaganda arm of a local rat PAC(K) known as The World apparently believes that citizen participation in the people’s business is passe, time consuming, tedious and just plain old school. The World editors have referred to the public as “natterers” and yesterday claimed that a “tiny band” who care enough about how their tax dollars are invested to show up at board meetings are haunting the commission. Let me submit that even if The World did a better job such that the public could rely on its reporting for the full story, conducting the people’s business is a serious thing and worthy of everyone’s full attention and participation. No apologies for taking up the board’s time twice a month.

Today, the editors are shamelessly pitching this false meme that hiring an administrator is somehow more modern than the current system. The truth is there is nothing new or novel or particularly successful about the administrator model they are promoting like dutiful elves obediently following Santa’s orders. “The World’s Editorial Board provides its election recommendations as a service to our readers”, writes the editors. To be truthful, the paper’s crappily written, poorly reasoned recommendations are a disservice to its readers, the real service is on behalf of its self serving handlers at the PAC.

If only the ghosts of real newspaper editors instead of cheap marketing shills were haunting The World… the county would be much better off.
