Coos County commissioners are working toward transferring management and or title of federal BLM timberland known as the Coos Bay Wagon Road to the Coquille Tribe. The reason given is the tribe, as a sovereign nation, will be able to cut critical habitat more aggressively.

Francis Eatherington of Cascadia Wildlands discusses the tribe’s history of timber harvest practices.

Francis also spoke with me about the history and management of the Coos Bay Wagon Road lands and that interview will soon follow.
