The Sentinel met with DA Paul Frasier today and discussed, amongst other things, the possible sentence James Bryant might receive if he is convicted of the charges he was arrested for recently. Given that the current charges are misdemeanors he will not serve any time. Should additional charges be brought he may suffer greater penalties.
I keep leaving and come back, this has stuck in my craw !!
The World Forum is extinct as far as I am concerned, so this is the only outlet for public discussion not centered around recipes and cute little geek-talk symbols.
I am asking ANY citizen who has actually been sentenced on charges of giving alcohol to a minor in this county to please, please respond here with particulars.
Also, a young man in Coos Bay is arrested evidently for having sex with a 14 year old girlfriend, now I admit I could be completely out of the ball park here,so please correct me if I am wrong. So a cop ‘attempting’ the same is gifted with a misdemeanor? This argument probably isn’t the best to use.
All I’m asking is this, are these charges discretionary? Meaning, does the D A have the ability to make his own determination as to what constitutes a misdemeanor versus felonious charges?
If ANYONE has any information regarding similar incidents among the peasants of Coos County, and what their charges were, PLEASE come forward and tell us your story.
It will make me sick to see this scum walk. Walk into another town and start his perversion up again. This cop likes young girls, period, that’s been the talk on the street for years.
Unless people have the courage to come forward and file the many complaints about his professional conduct Dian and I have been advised of he will continue his life unabated. Many have feared retribution but knowing we have an honest and forthright police chief at long last may empower many to step forward.
So he will ‘walk’ on this charge? Other than losing this one job, no further punishment for an adult who provides alcohol to minors?
Is there anything the public can do to make sure this man doesn’t continue this behavior? Obviously, this is not his first time at the rodeo.
providing alcohol and contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor (attempted) Evidently the minor wasn’t having any of it (good for her)
So why and with what was he charged in the first place?
As you know, I am no fan of the current DA, however, in this instance my understanding is they can only charge what they can prove. Unless there are additional victims who come forward there is not much anyone can do. He will likely move on and become a cop somewhere else…
Okay, let me get this straight, it’s a misdemeanor to supply alcohol to a minor?
One question, WHO decides the charges? WHO decides the extent that raises charges from misdemeanor to felony?
Is this discretionary charging by the Fireball D A?
Great ! It’s Saturday Night……….let’s all git some youngins, pretty ones please, and git em drunk. Here in Coquille, you ain’t even gonna have any jail time, and just think (wink, wink) how much fun yer gonna have?
Is that what the DA is telling us?
Gotta go git some Southern Comfort now !!!1
Yippee !
Oops, do I have to wear a badge such as Myrtle Point AND Coquille?
Wow, I thought the law came down hard on adults supplying kids with alcohol.
Silly me, is this everywhere or just in Coos County, Mr. DA?
I forgot, it’s early, he’s probably at the donut shop with his buds.
