At last count 5,329 signatures had been collected towards the recall of Commissioner Kevin Stufflebean. Larry Van Elsberg, chief petitioner, will turn in the petitions today at 3:30 PM to Coos County Elections for validation. The committee is required to turn in 3,773 valid signatures at which point Stufflebean has five days to resign or file a response. If he fails to resign the County will hold a special election in 35 days to determine whether Stufflebean will retain his seat as commissioner.
