According to the latest budget documents obtained by MGx, SCFS operated at a deficit of -$225,262 during fiscal year 2012-2013, worse than -$172,801 reported last June. The difference of $52,461 can be traced to a revenue line “Food Other Donations” under a column entitled “Actuals to Date” that was present when the budget was adopted but is now missing. This latest budget still reflects a projected deficit of -$177,586 for the 2013/14 fiscal year for a combined two year deficit of -$402,848 for the Food Bank.

ORCCA – SCFS Budget
Other anomalies in the SCFS budget include an increase in salaries while simultaneously showing a decrease in fringe benefits.
The agency anticipates a combined deficit across all programs of -$203,940 for the current 2013/14 fiscal year. These documents also reflect deficits in administration totaling -$88,649 and -$10,865 in the SnackPak program for the 2012/13. Auditors are reviewing the accounting now and absent any cogent explanation from the board of directors to explain how the agency will prevail with such huge deficits, let’s hope the auditors offer an explanation.
