Thinking about some of the very un-business like actions of the Coos County commission begs the question of what is so appealing about Fred Messerle or his side-kick, Cam Parry to the local business community? Just the lack of critical analysis that brought about the planning department fiasco and the exorbitant amount of effort to “bank” a modest 491 acre feet of pond water would be enough to turn most competent managers queasy. Add in a video montage of Fred’s other greatest hits and Coos County could be on Comedy Central… so what do some of these business folk see in Fred?
These guys are all Federal Welfare Queens. If anyone missed it, hundreds of millions of dollars freely flow into this county every year, for decades now.
So why the unemployment and poverty of the citizens of Coos County?
Because the Sause and Knutson and Messerlies have made fortunes on this county. They want nothing to change, why would they? They’re intimately involved in the Port funding, think they want this county to move forward? Think Sause wants tourtists on the Coos Bay waterfront? That’s HIS private dock folks, he ain’t gonna let you have it for people, he parks there.
Let’s stop fooling ourselves, Messerlie is a tool of these guys. My guess it’s Sause and Kronsteiner or whatever his name is, and Knutson they are the REAL Godfathers in this county. Barton is just a very big little fish here, as is al. They are there and allowed to profit by the real big fish, Sause. We need to focus on who the biggest recipients of public money is, and stop it.
Sause and his family are the Corleone’s of Coos County, in my humble opinion, from just reading history.

Fred need the income, that’s why he went for commissioner. What does that tell you about his business qualifications?
Not all business profesionals in Coos County are Messerle fans. Can you name two vocal supporters of Messerle anywhere in Coos County that are not a part of CCAP or a part of the now overpriced sometimes daily Coos Bay oldnewspaper or employees of these people who have been directed to show up at meetings to support Messerle? How many of the Chamber people other than Slater (who is not all that vocal) openly support Messerle?
Messerle seldom makes decisions without having his strings pulled by one of the pupeteers. We have many examples where he made a move not enjoyed by his pupeteers and he was forced to change his position. Which of the Messerle positions is the real position?
Messerle has perhaps hired a few people along the way after inheriting the family business. He has NEVER created an industry or a job. He has done nothing during 18 months to create jobs in Coos County. He has not made any persons life better. He has not improved services or reduced taxes. He has not EARNED another term as commissioner.
