One would think the paper would consider it news when an elected sheriff decides to present a dissenting view to the structure advisory committee findings and conclusions but evidently the paper doesn’t care to report on the growing schism between the commissioners, members of the committee and counsel.
Is the paper just too busy or too impoverished or just too disinterested in county politics to report?
He is always purple. Even half priced drinks don’t put a smile on his face
Yeah, I don’t see Al getting a union endorsement. Do you? He would probably turn purple if he had to explain his “parasite” remarks.
He may have no other choice, since Al has stepped on so many toes with his dance for power, he may not feel comfortable running for office this time. At least we know it wont be Fred and Bob sitting together on the next board, he guaranteed that outcome.
I would like to see Al run against Mark, and debate for us here.
Messerle had to have some plan when he chose position 1 but I don’t really see him putting all his faith in Mark
Markm represents the same agenda that SCDC, theworld, and the port all promote. He’s the democrat version of Al, but he has their back and they will most likely have his. To see Al vie for the same seat as Markm, that might split the loyalty of their group of letter writers that Jon uses to win his elections. Who will he put his machine behind, if they both run for the same seat.
We have to believe Fred has someone lined up to take his position and Pettit certainly behaves like someone trying to make a name for himself even though he insults 80% of the voters every time he opens his mouth.
I was a subscriber of “The World” for over 30 years. Clarks twist and manipulation on local politics and how it’s reported caused me to cancel my subscription to this so called public news paper a couple years ago. Until he’s gone, I will use other sources of information to form my opinion on local politics. Hopefully Lee Enterprises sees they are handicapped by having this creep on their payroll. In the mean time, I will encourage folks I know to cancel their subscriptions also.
A rumor is floating that Pettit will file for Fred’s spot
The oblective is to sell papers by whatever means necessary. Reporting fact, after being so supportinve of friends Barton and Pettit would not serve them well. Walworth and several majority position committee members are part of the same organizations. Why would he sandbag his pals to inform the public.
There’s someone way in the back of the room waving his hand. Yes sir, what would you like to say? Oh, it’s Al Pettit. You say you want to be the County Administrator, and you feel you are highly-qualified because of your laudable business experience. Umm…well…I don’t think so, Al. The job calls for someone who won’t bolt out of the room like you did when someone criticized your choice of words when you called the county corrections officers “kids,” and referred to the county’s women employees as “girls.”
They’re not interested in any story that would go counter to the goals of SCDC and the port. This is a tight-knit group and the goals were set long ago, to control all aspects of what news gets to the public and when they get it. That’s why this site is cherished by some and reviled by the local power brokers. The back door brokered deals are still being done, as you’ve proven with your coverage of the structure committee’s attempt to put an administrator in charge of all county services. What a boon that would have been for SCDC, to be able to control who gets to provide all goods and services to the county, and who gets to harvest the resources.
Fred seems intent on getting this done, no conflict of interest.
Cam still seems intent on getting the timber deal done for the tribe, no conflict of interest.
Bobs in survival mode.
Will they have the cahones to implement the plan to hire an administrator before the elections? If Jon and Fred can get Cam to hold steady, they will try while they still hold the majority vote on the board.
All the supporters of this plan that can see themselves sitting in that chair, will be very disappointed when the job goes to an outsider, that’s how it will be done, someone that can be exported when necessary. Someone like Jeff Bishop.
Jon Barton has been ill , or so I’ve heard. So Clark can’t sit on his knee with one arm up his – ahem – shirt, telling him what to say. Plain and simple.
