Wim de Vriend will be taking questions and signing books this Wednesday evening at 7PM at the North Bend Library. The book is detailed look sprinkled with hilarity and the long history of expensive economic development projects promoted by the Port of Coos Bay. Many familiar names spring up in its pages, Messerle, Whitty, Slater and more and it is entertaining, if not also a little sad, to hear the same voices still singing the same songs.
Don’t miss this event and pick up a copy of the book, it is well worth it.
Writer, photographer, and restaurant owner Wim de Vriend talks about his book and views that local government agencies have squandered millions of dollars in the name of job creation.
“An excellent case-study of why job-creation schemes don’t work…”

The locals at The World , still clinging to the lies told them for forty years will tell you to get the hell out of the county if you don’t like it.
They are comfortable with the old “grab yer ankles, here we come again” they’ve been hearing the entire time. They’ve become so used to being abused, lied to and scammed, they are like the proverbial Battered Spouse, they know the rules, if they just keep their heads down, these Saviors of Development will Shirley come through. They have come, and gone, and come again, and won’t go away until they’re voted out of every position to continue their harm to the future of this county.
Watch and listen to their squeals.
One just told me to go back to the sheet house, I’m ASSuming they mean your blog M. They don’t like it here, too much of that Freedom Thingey.
Old Mark M sho has shut the H up hasn’t he?
