The governance advisory committee meeting is now available online. In a nutshell, the governance committee accepts the recommendation of the structure advisory committee that hiring an executive or manager to take over administrative duties and tossed around the idea of hiring from within the county for the position.
This committee, unlike the structure committee appears to be curious about what the commissioners do but hesitated to ask them beyond forming a survey to see how each commissioner felt about the findings. Neither committee appears to consider making recommendations to the commissioners about how to do their jobs better or how to fix the interdepartmental communication problems.
Again, none of this focus addresses the upcoming budget shortfall but both committees are in agreement that all three commissioners have failed to govern and administer the county properly. They will inquire of the commissioners what they actually do every day… we all want to know that.
Thanks, Colandrio, I must confess that I do a lot of multitasking when listening to these hearings but sometimes they are pretty funny, well, if they weren’t so sad they would be pretty funny
I want to thank Mary for witnessing and paying attention to these meetings. My eyes start to glaze over after ten minutes from the gravitas and pompousness of the proceedings. You’d think these people were writing the Magna Carta.
While we sit and watch.
I don’t know about you, but I’m not about to kiss Jon Barton’s – ahem – ring.
These men have this county by the huevos and they don’t intend to give it up.
And the yocal locals will fight to give it to them. I’ve never seen such an ignorant populace, I’m serious about that, not calling names, it’s the truth as I see it.
They have Complete agreement with the other committee, that a boss is needed, will there will be a scurry to make it happen on this watch, before we have any elections? Yes. that’s plain to see in this video. That’s where their screwing up.
Terry came the closest to suggesting they wait for newly elected commissioners to be seated. Thats what they should do.
If they can get Chamber of commerce, SCDC, and former or current friends of these groups elected as new commissioners, then have at it. You’ve then accomplished a democratically formed government. If these committees are allowed to set this up before we have elections, then we have a coup, by the same people sponsoring the “extractive resources” mindset. This county is quite the prize for that group to control.
To appoint an interim boss, by a chosen committee before elections, is more of the same fraud we’ve been witnessing.
Terry’s suggestion that a person already on the payroll might be a good way to experience a trial run for such a position, may have legs. If its hers, not one of these current commissioners. It would be hard for her to volunteer while shes sitting at the table with that bunch,(more than half see themselves in that chair), But she would be the most trusted at this time. No more committee appointed positions, it just perpetuates more fraud on the voters.
