The selection process employed by Bob Main to replace commissioners Jackson and Whitty have been criticized many times on this blog, including here and here. Bob Main continues to insist that while the two board members had every right to pick whomever they wanted he relinquished that choice to the selection committees.

Main still maintains he had no hand in picking either Parry or Messerle to the commission, however, anyone who has listened to the audio from the May 10, 2011 illegal executive session will disagree. Main offers niggling little complaints about each applicant until we get to Messerle. The only complaint Main had about Messerle was that he didn’t smile more.

A copy of the rejection letter sent at least one of the interviewees may expose a Freudian slip that is more telling than Main’s more public claims. [Emphasis mine]

Thank you for taking the time to interview for the County Commissioner Position.

As you are aware, the committee was impressed with your qualifications. However, after considerable thought and review, we have offered the position to the candidate that best matched our needs.

We wish you success in your future endeavors.

The candidate who best matches “our needs” as opposed to the county’s needs or the public’s needs. Does this reveal an “agenda” on the part of the commissioners? They certainly declined the opportunity to pick someone else over Messerle in their comically performed ‘do over’ on May 17, he must meet that agenda, their needs, better than anyone else.
