Not that it matters much but Bob Main repeated for the umpteenth time at today’s BOC meeting how the committees chosen to pick Cam Parry and Fred Messerle were extremely diverse and were formed to give the public an opportunity to participate in the selection without the expense of holding a special election. Main asserts time and again that he had no influence on the outcome in either decision.

Again, not that it matters, I assert that the resulting all conservative white male board of commissioners belies both the diversity of the committees or the lack of influence by Main and to a lesser degree, Parry. Further, anyone who listened to the audio from the illegal executive session held on May 10 will note that Main did exert influence toward Messerle and away from other candidates. Perhaps Main feels if he repeats his claims often enough more of us will believe him, or perhaps he is trying to convince himself, but we have a set of like minded triplets on the Coos County Commission and I wish Main would stop repeating the same old tired line again and again.

Another quick note. Curing the commissioner’s comment period it was revealed that a draft agreement between the Coquille Tribe and the county for the management of Coos Bay Wagon Road lands is expected by months end. The commissioners believe they can bury a bill within other bill packages before Congress by this fall. Much more on this topic in an upcoming post
