When my oldest son, a Marine, left for war and crossed the border from Kuwait into Iraq in March 2003 I started writing my conscience. After two tours that young combat veteran’s mother is now an ardent peace activist and advocate for social, environmental and economic justice.
MGx has matured since those early vents and ramblings and now covers relevant and important local and regional matters in addition to national and global affairs.
The 4/29/09 BOC, includes some very interesting request and expenditures. I am so far behind the curve on these budget items and WHERE DOES THE MONEY COME FROM. Much of this information provides a source to gain knowledge by asking questions.

I understand, just as lately as Jan. 09, the BOC was started later so persons traveling distance could be consider. Meaning the 9:30 starting time allow more folks to be there, and on time. But, the public comment part was moved to the end of the meeting. A Coos Bay affliction started during Verger and Kevin. That now does not allow enough business time and public comment time, because of the Lunch schedule. They also have put an executive session at 9 AM.. I would guess weather they need it or not.
There was a while back, den, some talk of changing the day of the BOC so as not to conflict with Rotary. Several people would appreciate an evening meeting now and then so working stiffs can attend.
In the continuing effort to discover why a County, who starting cutting back over two years ago is in such good shape, financially now. There seems to be money available for everything.
I can believe, but cannot believe the overwhelming length of the agenda for this 4/29/2009 BOC meeting. This feeds into my issues about the Commissioners doing business which is not their job, as County business,
A current example might be the 4/15/09 BOC Meeting. Kevin was not present. That was the day of the IPO meeting. BOC had to be over at 10:45. Nikki goes to the IPO each month. No time for public comment. There were a couple of short ones. There was little on the agenda, four items, and nothing of importance because the two for one voting monopoly was not present.
The 4/22/29, BOC meeting was not held, Because the Commissioner, Bob Main and Kevin Stufflebean were up at state, attending a legislative session. I call that lobbying. What do we have voted in legislators for. I can count four in our county.
4/29/09. Certainly will have little time for public comment. The meeting could run until finished. But I have noticed that the Commissioners have not only community lunch meeting commitments for organization, some political some not. The IPO, Rotary, and Commission and boards that the Commissioner sometime attend, or, are officers on the boards, and these events seem to dictate the scheduling of the BOC. A break is taken for lunch.
I seen this as another issue to reduce public participation in the at the BOC meeting, where the scheduling is arranged for the purposes of the Commissioner, and not the business of the county, which is the public business.
