County Counsel, Jackie Haggerty, after an executive session advised attendees of the weekly commissioners meeting today that an Unfair Labor Practice complaint has been filed with the State of Oregon Employment Relations Board by Teamsters Local 223. The complaint stems from the December 31, 2008 layoff of 22 Road Dept employees. Haggerty then advised that pending litigation would prohibit the board from commenting in response to the public.

The commission then reorganized the agenda to allow public comment early to accomodate Commissioner Stufflebean who had to leave for a meeting in Roseburg. Most of the public comment related to the layoffs and I will try and organize that for a separate post later today.

Stufflebean states that he has tendered an offer for a new roadmaster. The offer has not yet been accepted but a decision is expected by next Wednesday and press will be advised if the matter is settled sooner.
