Respect goes both ways, BOC must respect public
Parry has ridiculed and lectured the public for not showing respect for “the office” of the commissioner trying to do “the people’s business” for daring to react, grown, sigh or laugh at some of the cloying, long winded, syrupy, adjective rich yet context empty word salads he regularly forces on the public.

For a healthy and functioning democracy and in order for us to actively participate in our own governance we must be fully informed and many dedicated and unpaid volunteers make this possible by standing behind a camera and filming these meetings. These volunteers deserve a hearty shout out and cheer for devoting their time to keeping Coos County informed.

Jon Barton’s ears must have been burning today because more than one citizen stood up during the public comment period at today’s commission meeting to complain about his behavior and the appearance of impropriety with his appointment. Barton is the boss of Commissioner Messerle’s spouse who works for SCDC. The primary topic of complaint, however, is with the committees firewall around public comments and access to the materials the members are using to formulate any recommendations.
