We all saw this coming when the board raised the possibility of hiring a lobbyist and by now everyone knows that Coos County hired Jordan Cove’s lobbyist to represent it in Washington on timber issues, even though the lobbyist in question doesn’t know much about timber. More on that soon.

The good news is the community enhancement plan has finally caught the attention of some outside media. Amongst the items to be reported on are details about the additional income tax savings Jordan Cove will receive from making charitable donations to the SCCF vs just paying regular property taxes. Now we know why they are anxious to see these foundations put in place, it benefits them far more than just paying property taxes.
