The FCC have a search feature which allows you to enter criteria like name, community, type of application, etc… so as best as I can tell Coos County may soon have four community radio stations, two in Coquille. In addition to the Coquille School District application for Winter Lakes High School, Operation Coquille, another local non-profit, also applied for a license and since there doesn’t appear to be a MX (mutually exclusive) conflict both should receive a license to broadcast on separate channels.
360x203xkpyt-studio.jpg.pagespeed.ic.fGNcQWVC35Two non profits formed specifically to apply, one in Bandon and one in Coos Bay. Again, there appear to be no MX conflicts and no other applicants so Coos Community Radio and Bandon Community Radio may soon be broadcasting. All these stations may share locally produced programming to help meet their local programming mandates. There don’t appear to be any applicants in Brookings, Gold Beach or Reedsport or Florence, however Florence will soon have a full power FM community station coming on line in the next few months.

According to Todd Urick of Common Frequency the licenses could be granted in as quickly as two weeks but could stretch out to a couple of months or more if any technical or engineering issues arise.
Roseburg also had an application filed by Umpqua Watersheds, Inc and Veterans for Peace applied in Corvallis. Battle Rock Communications, Inc filed for Port Orford so Curry County will soon have a community radio station. Portland had twenty one applications!
