Today, Don Gurney and I will be talking about alternative funding sources for county services.
In the spirit of talking about alternatives here are a couple of examples of what is possible if we allow our imaginations to run free. See here for more“The only barriers to every village, town and city becoming ‘Happyville’ are a lack of political courage and self-interest dominating public interest,” says climate economist Andrew Simms.

This interview on Letterman the other night about our energy future will give some viewers encouragement and frustrate the naysayers. When the democrats give up the fight to do the will of the oil industry, the changes will begin in earnest. Now that the GOP is weakened with this shutdown stunt, the opportunity to expose the GOP wolves hiding among the democrats can present itself. The governor, Arnie and Caddy may have to change course if they want to survive this political wind. They have been very lucky to have masked their primary goals of hastening resource extraction with the cloak of “Democrat”. If the democrats don’t change soon they will follow these dodo bird republicans over the same cliff, but for different reasons.

Looking forward to hearing the podcast, when its available. People need to hear about more alternatives for this area, other than putting all our eggs into a town killing project like LNG or coal.
The people representing this area in our government and across the local business sector are planning to kill this town as we know it to be. They will Kill it to save it, if they can profit along the way. The tactics being applied locally are turning more ugly with the arrival of the yellow shirted BS thugs. They looked quite similar to the former ORC employees that wore blue jackets and swamped the BOC meetings to feign support while presenting an intimidating force of strength to force their sponsors agenda. The defazio meeting looked like the same people organized a labor union to show force of will, and got all the local politicians in the same room for the cry of JOBS, oh and they did not forget to mention that Jordan Cove Energy will bring jobs.
There is hope in my eyes yet. The local locals would let this happen in a heart beat if it were up to them, that’s who SCDC, BSoregon, BACC, and the Port have been targeting with the help of theworld newspaper for the last ten years. The only hope we have to stop this is public opinion from outside the area, and that is growing faster than BS oregon and their industry paid politicians can handle. Let them wear blue jackets or yellow shirts, it won’t matter, those people they have recruited to swamp local public meetings have swallowed the kool-aid provided by Jon Barton and gang. These people will happily grasp at these jobs with all the force they can muster,at all our expense. They are a very tiny minority being led by a focused group of lobbyist on the behalf of the oil/gas industry. These yellow shirted BS thugs are going to fade quickly when the worldwide effort to halt fracking shines its light on this project. This plan to frack your neighbor for profit will die a very public death as more and more people become aware of the dangers they are willing to impose on us . All the groups currently fighting against the XL pipeline are eventually going to focus on this even more problematic project. The PR people for Jordan Cove have finally decided to employ the tactics of their Nemesis CALNG and buy some shirts to hand out before the meetings, but that’s not going to work anymore.
