The county will be interviewing candidates for the position of finance director next Thursday, May 23 at 1PM in the commissioners courtroom. The county is also interviewing applicants for the human resources director. It is unclear whether the cost of either position have been addressed in the budget hearings as of this writing.
Opportunity is knocking. This is almost what Jon’s group wanted when they tried to restructure things last year. Every other member of those special committees formed by SCDC acted like they were going to seek the new position for themselves , when they get it through the commissioners. The other half planned to do business with the newly appointed finance director. They will work out the details after they create the job. Maybe it will work like homeland security and the new director will have the final say over all department funding and contracts, uncountable to the voters.
