When the US Dept of Justice concludes that allegations made by one party against another party are false then it would seem reasonable to acknowledge that the party making the allegations lied. The World newspaper applauded the exoneration of the wrongly accused Captain Charlie Yates in Saturday’s Cheers and Jeers column but why no jeers for his accuser, John Knutson?
Knutson has taken the reins from Jon Barton as chairman of the board of SCDC and is a founding member of the rat PAC(K) also known as CCAP. Will the paper do another story about Knutson, Dale Sause and the machinations behind a bill that gave Knutson a local monopoly in the bay or is it going to give him a pass and sweep it under the proverbial rug?

They been doing it in Coos County since at least 1978, they ain’t dummies. They got this county from here to Salem locked up and they ain’t gonna let any of you rabble into their club. Hell, they won’t even let little al, who thinks he’s a big guy, he isn’t even in on it. He’s just a Fredo who carries water for them when needed. You don’t really expect The World to suddenly find a moral high ground after all the water carrying its done for Coos County’s morally bankrupt, do you?
No, but society used to function as a brake on this type of behavior and newspapers used to let society know when someone crossed lines of code and conduct. Today they just ignore it and in this case the paper would have to take on Roblan, Verger, Krieger and Kruse, not just the rat pack.
The World is only concerned when it perceives that ORCCA has crossed the line. SCDC can screw the pooch and it is praised. Ever wonder why the paper takes the food bank to task for conduct far less reprehensible than SCDC. Also curious that every time the paper goes after ORCCA, there is a far bigger story in SCDC or the Messerlies but they just seem to ignore it. I guess you can’t report the goods on those your in bed with!
And what will Knute do that Barton could not and Mrs. Appointed Commissioner is incapable of doing?
