The CCAP (Coos County Alliance for Progress) continues to spend big to secure a seat on the Coos County Commission on behalf of Fred Messerle. The PAC has raised $32,175 and in addition to buying banners, signs and radio ads opposing a home rules charter (6-143) and supporting an ordinance to create the position of administrator (6-144) the PAC has bought $2,268.80 of radio spots for Fred Messerle. Messerle has not yet reported these ads as contributions nor has he reported a $250 contribution from another PAC, Oregonians for Affordable Housing. This same PAC also donated equal amounts to Melissa Cribbins and Tim Bishop.
CCAP has a balance of $1,644.88 and Messerle has spent most of the $29,444 raised and shows a balance of $1,071. Opponent, Bob Main, has raised $23,529.69 this cycle and spent all but $917.31.
Less than 50% of the ballots had been turned in as of yesterday but at 44.9% this is ahead of 2008 voting at 42.9% and still on track to meet the 85% return seen in the last three presidential election years.

Yep – heard the ads, they are cheaply done like everything the Republicans do. Fred’s voice sounds even more whiny than in person – didn’t think that was possible. They were also followed immediately with ads for an administrator/no on the charter, clearly done by the same outfit. Changed the channel.
