The CCAP (Coos County Alliance for Progress) is behind the signs promoting the governance ordinance change as well as the signs opposing the charter initiative, according to OreStar. The PAC has also receipted another $800 bringing its total contributions to $27,275 and more than $11,266 left to spend on the elections. The PAC has already invested heavily in the commissioners race donating $7,500 to Fred Messerle, $1,500 to John Sweet, $1,000 to Melissa Cribbins and $250 to Tim Bishop. In June, after a $10,000 donation from Sause Bros, the PAC gave $5,000 to Bruce Starr, a Hillsboro state senator who carried the controversial towboat bill to the senate that benefitted Knutson Towboat Company. John Knutson is one of the PAC founders.
” What have all these people been promised.”
Ask al, puttin in his new welfare windows as we speak I understand.
Ask the Coles.
Ask Knutson and Sause.
Ask Barton, maybe they’ll buy more of them fifty thousand dollar Star Trek Satellites he’s hawking.
Maybe they’ll get huge buildings downtown condemned, sell said building to a crony, then all of a sudden ??? It ain’t broke no more, come live in it.
How blind does a community have to be to continue to believe these hucksters?
CCAP and SCDC are different. SCDC, operated daily with you tax money by do nothing wife of Messerle, has not openly contributed money to any politician. Being a quasi public organization, you will never know for certain. Knutson, Sauce, Barton and other SCDC members have written endorsements of Messerle, Cribbins and Sweet. They have also funded CCAP. Remember it was friend of CCAP and its founders Clark Walworth who told us in an editorial that PAC (CCAP) funding of politicians is slimy business and considered by some as buying the candidate. What does CCAP and the Portland PAC who have supported Messerle expect? What do the organizations Coquille Tribe, ORC, Jordan Cove who have supported Messerle with money expect?. What have all these people been promised.
I’m sorry, but that is ridiculous! They should not be involved in endorsing and funding local candidates for elections. Do you realize that a great deal of the $ expended are PUBLIC funds? This is totally inappropriate! It is a misuee of government funds and I would challenge each and every city and the County to hold back the contributions they regularly give this group. Mrs. Messerle, definitely is on the wrong side of ethical behavior in these instances. I guess the whole Fred Messerle and wife are both unethical regarding the use of public funds. Is this the kind of Commissioner you want (Messerle, Fred) and one might look to see how much was contributed to the other golden ones – Bishop/Sweet/Cribbens. If you want to see your taxes go down the tube for non citizen service functions vote for them!
I think you are confusing CCAP with SCDC.
Twas expected. I hope they spend every cent collected and lose everything, although the charter is an uphill battle. The charter would be a done deal if Messerle screws up once more duning the next two weeks. Who are the department heads runored to be leaving if Messerle is elected?
