Fred Messerle used his appointed position as commissioner to lobby Salem last week when he “testified in front of the Joint Legislative Task Force on County Payments on Thursday, September 13th in Salem, telling lawmakers that the state and federal governments must remove impediments, regulatory, political and otherwise, to the development of a natural resource and maritime shipping based economy for Coos County.” Messerle has been a vocal critic of government regulation and what he deems a drawn out permitting process yet in June, 2010 Messerle used that “process” to argue against the Williams Pipeline going across his own property. In a letter to the Coos County Planning Department, Messerle made an excellent case about how the pipeline would seriously impact the timber industry and reduce property values.
Sandy Messerle, wife of the commissioner, works for SCDC which is actively promoting the siting of the Jordan Cove liquefied natural gas import/export terminal and the associated Williams Pipeline. In effect, the missus is supporting an industry that will harm the family business and many others like it. In the case of Messerle’s property, he suggested an alternate route which bypasses the family lands and off loads the problem to property owners down the 234 mile pipeline route in adjoining counties.

Want the Big Fish?
Sause and Knutson are pulling the strings, and it’s time, after forty years, they pull in their ropes and sail off somewhere else to find a place to park their boats, instead of all along the Coos Bay Waterfront.
Think Sause wants change in Coos Bay? Why would he?

What self-serving person! Lets just push the “burden” off to others land. Do not mess with the SACRED Messerle land! This is not a man we need to represent us! We need someone who will consider folks OTHER than himself! I’d also beware of Cribbins (a resource for the Coquille Tribe) and either Bishop or Sweet. All worshippers at the feet of the all mighty buck, devil take the hindmost club.
Farmer Freddie told them there Salem fellows,”we’re eating our seed corn” down here. In other words, who knows what he is talking about. Interesting letter. In other words, it’s a convincing argumnet and a waste of paper. According to the Oregon Secretary of State, on the date written, Freddie was doing business as Messerle and Sons (wirth him as secretary/treasurer) and as Fred Messerle and Sons with him as President. In other words, huh! That letter appears to have been written by a lawyer who graduated last in his class from a correspondence course. In other words, it’s verbose.
