The commissioners must be expecting a crowd, although it may have more to do with a resolution regarding the Bandon Marsh expansion than with the shut down of the Beaver Hill Disposal Site. At the last meeting, Main balked at signing a resolution because of wording that included non-governmental organizations to partner for local mitigation efforts. Parry was absent at the meeting and a stalemate arose between rivals Fred Messerle and Main which puts Parry in the position of having to side with one or the other tomorrow.
The solid waste matter will be brought up as a late agenda item and should also draw quite a crowd. Don’t be surprised to see ORC in their black jackets holding up the back walls in a show of support and muscle for Messerle.
You will not want to miss this meeting.
Yes, Geno, you are right. No one should expect the commissioners to actually listen to the citizens. Nevertheless, it is important to comment at these meetings to get points on the public record so that later, we can remind them they were warned.
It seems that the Current Commissioner’s have made up their minds before Public Opinions are taken: you, almost can see their ‘eyes’ glaze over when a person or persons state their position! I can see why Citizen’s of Coos think that ‘back room’ deals are still being made outside of the light of public eyes! Maybe, like ‘Prisoner’s’ they have a Secret Mode of Communication: For example, Turning one’s head away from the person making the Motion, indicates a ‘No’ vote; or a ‘smile’ means a ‘yes’ vote! I liked the time Mr. Main likes to embellish a his answer to a ‘simple question’! I believe he does that inorder to run up the time, in order, not to have a Public Opinion.period. I know when he was ‘chair’ he canceled that time period! I ask him why, ‘Because as Chair I can, I can change the agenda as I please’ (not a quote but close). If an urgent event comes up that requires a Commissioner’s attention I can understand the delay! But, when all three have to go and not declare ‘Exe. Session’ it causes a doubt in peoples minds about other ‘back room’ deal! These are my personal opinions and I’m stickin’ to it!
