Melissa Cribbens, one of the finalists for commissioner to replace Nikki Whitty sent an email saying she filed this afternoon to run for Cam Parry’s spot. Parry had not thrown his hat in as of last week and has kept his plans quiet but Cribbens gave a strong interview last May, considering the questions she had to work with, and I for one would like to see a strong woman on the board.
Cribbens is a lawyer and worked for the Coquille Tribe at the time of her interview. Hopefully I will be able to interview her soon and learn more about her but at first blush, I think she will be a strong candidate.
Markm is the broken system at its finest. He will do the bidding of SCDC and the port, he will give all the county cooperation he can to the same interests that Arnie Roblan and Caddy now openly represent. This democratic party will help export coal, LNG, and anything else That smells like money. He is a shill and will carry the water for all the interests that want a piece of coos county. TheWorld will back him because he already fights their battles, SCDC and the chamber will back him, because he helps sell their agenda. Glad there is already someone running against him.
The county needs a knowledgeable counsel. But there are enough lawyers who get lost in minutiae employed by the county. With less than six years real life experience since graduating law school, she isnt eady to lead the county.
Interesting to note that your friend Mark will announce his candidacy today in front of the jail. Probably a good place for those he is trying to replace.
There is definitely a lot to learn about Cribbens like where she stands on hiring an executive, or transferring management of federal lands to the tribe and micromanaging but being a lobbyist isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Some lobbyists (not enough, I know) even advocate for things like single payer health care or increasing minimum wage and jobless benefits.
LOBBYIST = special interest money = special connections with legislators = special deals for their clients. Shes registered with the state.
We already have one of those (lobbyist)representing the tribe, sitting on the board.
A strong female would be better than what we have now. But, not this female. Is Mr. Parry srill an active commissioner? Please do extensive research before your planned interview.
Even if she works for SCDC, she will beat Parry.
Wouldn’t it be a hoot to see Al vs. Mark for Messerle’s vacated seat, and then see a third choice sweep them both aside. That potential race would be a very exposing experience.
