The World newspaper has managed to offer quite a bit of promotion and free publicity lately Oregon Resources in the form of stories and editorials pushing for a mineral lease with the county. Also, there has been a full court press of letters to the editor supporting the strip miners after it was found they were out of compliance with their DOGAMI permit and had been taking water from the Coquille without a water right. One of the letters, published in the print edition mentioned the possibility of a regulatory “sanction” placed upon ORC.
Amidst the obvious saturation of favorable ORC stories, editorials and public comments at The World is this interesting screen shot that may explain the paper’s apparent bias and disregard for the 160 families who live in and around the Seven Devils mine site.
Always beware the fool who consistently employs hyperbole, pointlessly attempts to render complex matters into simplistic and misleading bromides to compensate for their inability to form a legitimate argument or write a credible report.
Did you get them all, hate them?, how about disliking what they do in representing the fossil fuel industries and other special interests, over their constituents, who voted for them. See you go from annoying, straight to stupid. If what elected officials do, goes counter to what is best for the greater good, then they need to be called on it. That’s what you are experiencing, that’s what your objecting to, politicians being held accountable for their deeds. The others you mentioned are just people taking advantage of the system, profiteers are always held as villains in these instances. Find your place and stake it out. You want hate, why, does that makes it easier for you to feel justified with your position as a collaborator and participant in this fraud being imposed on the citizens of Coos County. Get yourself elected with this agenda provided by SCDC and then you can crow all you want and hire someone to do the job you were elected to do. Instead you choose to attack your perceived enemies in hopes of gaining support for your little plan of getting an SCDC friendly CEO or manager in charge of everybody, someone that can be used the way Jeff Bishop was used by the port..transparent, pathetic and disturbingly rude to the voters of this county.
Do I understand this correctly? You hate The World, you hate SCDC, you hate The Port, The Chamber, ORC, LNG, logging, fishing, business, Jon, Sandy, Al, Fred, Cam, Bob, JoAnn, Arnie, Pete, Clark, Roy, Cindy, Eric, Jack, Bill, Wall St., Jordan Cove, CEOs, etc., etc….
BUT, you want YOUR government to continue, business-as-usual. You want your Solid Waste, your parks, Road Dept, Sheriffs…all the services – BUT, you hate every entity that’s paying the tab.
So….can someone explain to me how we keep government status quo while killing all the revenue sources at the same time???
I think Walworth is VP of the chamber but not sure what role he plays with SCDC
“Remember that Clark Walworth is also the SCDC VP responsible for business development. It will be difficult to win an argument with a man who buys ink by the barrel.”
You will also notice a rise in stories of scandal against non SCDC members, anytime the light shines to brightly on what SCDC is doing.
The internet is the only local media not under their control.
Until the cowardly lion, or the tin man searching for a heart, or the scarecrow searching for a brain (or perhaps they prefer to be described as the see, hear and speak no evil monkeys) (aka the three Coos County commissioners – one elected for a few more months) have the courage to stand or sit before the people and state the pros and cons of contracting with ORC for minerals on county land – land that belongs to all of us – expressing their position on the matter and the reasons why – and permitting we the people to speak for and against ORC, local people who Mr. Walworth frequently attempts to bamboozle, will remain in the dark and unaware. Remember that Clark Walworth is also the SCDC VP responsible for business development. It will be difficult to win an argument with a man who buys ink by the barrel. Why Mrs. Messerle is being paid three times the average Coos County wage to do something that she has never done before and has been unable to do here is beyond my comprehension.
