It is no secret that some members of the structure advisory committee and at least two of three commissioners favor closing the solid waste department and today’s structure committee meeting began treading well into the domain of the solid waste advisory committee. The structure committee board liaison is Commissioner Fred Messerle and Commissioner Cam Parry is the liaison to both Solid Waste and its namesake advisory group.
According to witnesses to today’s meeting structure advisory group members Al Pettit and Jon Barton seem eager to shut it down or privatize it while the solid waste advisory group has come to no such conclusions both committees appear to be operating from completely different fact sheets. Pettit and Barton are regularly insinuating themselves and their badly conceived anti-government agenda into county government so it is not surprising they would bulldoze over another advisory group’s territory laden with fragmented information.
What qualifies either Mr. Petit or Barton to make judgements on the Solid Waste site? 0, Zero, Nada – that’s what! Several years ago the people of Coos County voted on this very issue. Guess what folks, we voted to keep our own Solid Waste area open. We instinctively knew that sending our garbage to some other local was a losing situation. Frankly, with the right kind of Leadership for this County the Solid Waste or Dump could be making money for Coos Countty. Apparently the only kind of plan these jokes – Barton and Petit can view is what the “good old boys & girls” have led them to which is to export our garbage thereby always being preyed upon by other Counties, or more likely Corporate America who have nothing more in their sites but the bottom line FOR THEM, not the citizens. Do you notice that these are the same people Mr. Main selected to “pick” our new, unelected County Commissioners? Funny thing aye? Watch your backs people these people along with the County Commissars will be pounding you down as they run over you!
