At the recent road department budget hearings commissioners, Main and Parry indicated they would like to transfer up to sixteen roads in the County maintenance system within the limits of cities, including Lakeside and Coquille, to the municipalities. Parry says the County simply cannot afford to keep maintaining the inner city roads.
Roads in Lakeside and Coquille have recently been brought up to county standards and County counsel, Jacqui Haggerty is going to look into ways to force the cities to accept responsibility for the roads.
