A committee of seven was chosen, with Main choosing three and Whitty choosing three and a seventh person, Hank Hickox, mutually agreed upon. Whitty pulled from her usual list of favorites and Main chose close friends of Andy Jackson – (will add names later). Unfortunately, neither labor nor the bulk of the electorate is represented in the choices of either commissioner.

Running but will add to this later

Nikki Whitty chose the following names to evaluate the candidates and help craft a list of interview questions

Fred Messerle, Terence O’Conner, City Manager, Coquille, Steve Kridelbaugh, formerly of SOCC

Main chose Ted Simon, Don Peabody, Lanny Boston

Main let it slip in today’s meeting that Cam Parry may apply to replace the late Andy jackson. Personally, I think Parry would be an excellent choice and I think Main feels the same way. His choices for the committee, however, may be less enthusiastic (pure conjecture on my part).

At least two people I know of contacted Main to be on the committee weren’t even mentioned today. The downside of these choices is that two excellent candidates thinking about throwing their hats in are now thinking they won’t bother.
