KCBY files this report on Monday’s board of commissioners meeting regarding the proposed ORC mineral lease. Main mentions some procedural issues were made when the mineral lease was released to the public in advance of the board deliberating on it. Considering the outcome of Monday’s meeting, including changes to the lease ORC was not expecting and objected to, several people have questioned why the meeting was called at all.
“When Commissioner Stufflebean put this out to the public, the board as a body had not discussed the proposed lease, nor had the board as a body discussed the lease with our attorneys before it was made public,” says Main. “The only discussion we have had about this proposed lease was the hour before this meeting on Monday from 3 to 4 PM.”
