What a great story about Polish Jewish brothers turned leaders and fighters who fought the Germans and saved over 1,200 lives in the forests of Belarus.
The interesting back story is one brother, Tuvia, after avenging his parents murder at the hands of the Germans, takes in all refugees, finds some way to feed them and avoids direct conflict with the Germans. His brother Zus joins the Russians and finds himself becoming more and more like the enemy he hunts until they learn that a combination of both strategies are needed to survive.
After the war they eventually came to the US and ran a trucking company for 30 years.
