Governor Kulongoski’s Jobs and Transportation Act of 2009 should mean more money to Coos County and our local cities.

The federal stimulus bill is meted out in a complicated fashion to states and from the state to the local level. How the money is spent is not limited to private sector jobs by any means but may lean that way by virtue of how the local governments are setup.
As to the Act above, I am only part way through it myself but again, I think the qualifying projects will depend a lot upon how the local governance has handled things in the past and are ready to move at the present. Unfortunately, this may not bode well for Coos County at the moment.
I’m just wondering. I understand this money will go to the private sector for jobs and not public like parks, Roads, Cities etc. I’m not up on this Transportation act.
