Yesterday, my son Chris was driving back from California and was stopped in Brookings by a local police officer. The officer stated the reason for the stop was a lamp out on the license plate. The stop was cordial and no ticket was issued but after arriving home we checked the lights and each worked perfectly and the plate was well illuminated.

Was this just a ploy to stop someone or just a bored cop? Stops like this happen everywhere as well as Coquille and Brookings. Are they just exploratory? Checking for insurance or the smell of pot or some excuse to write a ticket?
