An act of clemency transcends courtroom encumbrances and the factual burdens of the crime because by its very nature it is an act of grace of divine forgiveness.

The worst thing about the death penalty is that it places decisions of this magnitude not in the heart of the divine but into the heartless and graceless hands of people like Bush and Schwarzenegger.
