The glaring irony of Rod Taylor, who joined an assemblage of right-wing MAGA zealots at the US Capitol with the purpose and intent to oppose the continuing authority of the United States Constitution having the audacity to believe he is an authority on what is and is not constitutional cannot go unchecked.

Transparency  and public participation  should be a cornerstone of government.   Tis requires citizens to receive timely notice of what matters government is considering.  In August  the Coos County Board of Commissioners {BOC}  adopted two resolutions through a process that undermined these principles. 

Main also provided campaign advice and guidance to the group whose members have been infiltrating nonpartisan positions from school boards to transit districts. Let’s not forget that Main uses his platform as a commissioner to bash opposing political views at commission meetings. Does this qualify as aid and comfort to the enemy? I personally think so and view Main as a threat to democracy.

Under the new law, an individual or group of individuals harmed by militia activity can file a civil cause of action against those that harm them. The law also authorizes Oregon’s Attorney General to investigate, and if necessary, to ask a court for injunctive relief to stop militia misconduct. 

Despite Trump supporters losing over 60 court cases, most rank-and-file Republicans still think the 2020 election was stolen.  It is now fashionable among the GOP to claim any election they don’t win was stolen. 

The authoritarian and fascist agenda of extremist white Christian nationalism is a serious threat to democracy. How do we fight back, then?

One interesting thing did come out and has been alluded to earlier by Matt Wilbanks on his blog is that a rift has formed amongst the CRL ranks.

CRL also likes to invoke a lot of Sturm und Drang over drag queens, and the LGBTQIA+ community accusing them of being “groomers” and creating “indoctrination playgrounds” at public schools. Taylor, in his capacity as commissioner, wants to strip parents of their right to choose what their children read and along with his cult followers ban and burn books and purge local libraries of literature they/the Christian right deem “inappropriate.”
