On June 12 right wing radio personality, Rob Taylor, posted on his web site an article headlined, “Conflict of interest advice from Oregon Government Ethics Commission concerning Cribbins and the Coos Bay Wagon Road land.” The headline implies Coos County Commissioner Melissa Cribbins may have violated Ethics Law. The post also links to four older posts attacking her.
However, the advice from the Ethics Commission is that it would not be an Ethics violation for Commissioner Cribbins to vote on Wagon Road issues. This advice is in a letter from the Ethics Commission dated April 13 responding to an earlier inquiry from Mr. Tayor.
Why did Mr. Taylor wait two months to post this letter? I am sure that if the Commission said a vote by Ms. Cribbins would be a violation the letter would have been posted immediately.
For Rob Taylor hating on Commissioner Cribbins is a chronic condition now aggravated by her reelection campaign. He has harshly criticized her in print and on the air for many years. Of course, the Rob Taylor Report has criticized many people. It is a forum of loud voices and personal attacks.
Sometimes the Taylor Report is bi-partisan. On March 13 this year Mr. Taylor posted an excerpt from a letter by Republican State Senator Dallas Herd announcing his resignation as Oregon GOP Chair. The letter said, in part, “I must warn you good people in our party that we truly have an equal if not greater evil than the Democrats walking among us. Communist psychological warfare tactics are being used daily within the party.”
This election cycle the Taylor’s of the world are only getting louder. Amid this noise here is some wisdom from Mark Twain: “One of the most striking differences between a cat and lie is that a cat has only nine lives.
