MGx staff, (that would be me), are deeply embedded in a project which ought to provide a wider venue and more flexibility to discuss local politics and issues. This will be an optional enhancement to MGx and MGx will continue on as usual. That is all I will say for now but hopefully this explains why it has been quiet over here lately.
In other news, Sandy Messerle, wife of outgoing commissioner, Fred Messerle, has applied for the Myrtle Point city manager job. If she gets the job that would leave her current position as executive director of SCDC open. Does anyone remember if SCDC actually put out a formal job advertisement or held interviews when she was hired?
The answer is no. You can find it in the World paper archives. When I get home late today I will locate the appropriate years ago pages in my files. It was McKeown, then defacto leader of SCDC, and the Walrus who told us that they had been searching and they found Mrs. Messy from Elkhart Indiana. In all liklihood they had been searching for someone who they could control. They also told us that she walked on water and she told us that she planned to take it slow. She doesnt and she did. There was absolutely nothing about her qualifications. A call to her former colleagues and the Elkhart Mayor revealed that she was unqualified to lead a jobs creating organization. She has spent hundreds of thousands (including much of our tax money) and accomplished nothing. Why would Myrtle Point want a person who has not demonstrated their ability to successfully lead a multi depatrtment organization?
The answer to your question regarding SCDC parasites would be… NO! No they did not advertise before Sandra Geiser Messerle was handed her position.
Yes, I vaguely remember rumblings from people who didn’t even know they were hiring or wasn’t given an opportunity to interview. Sigh
