Commissioner Cam Parry motioned to appoint himself to work with interim county counsel, Josh Soper, to draft a ballot measure adding two commissioners for a total of five to be voted on in November. Parry is proposing the five commissioners receive a $1,000 per month stipend in lieu of a salary which implies that hiring an administrator is a foregone conclusion. The motion passed with Bob Main being the only dissenter.
Parry will bring the measure before the board at the next meeting for approval where we can expect Parry and Fred Messerle to bulldoze their way through to putting it on the ballot.
Look a bit deeper into those shadows around Jon and you will see the tracks of our local Democratic leaders. These progressive dems are on the same page. It has been interesting to watch Arnie, Joanne, and Peter do all they can by providing public dollars for infrastructure projects to make SCDC goals become a reality. The system the port uses to direct their funds, has been very profitable for a very few for a long time now. This system has been so lucrative for a select group of our co-citizens, that it has been decided by these people to set our county up with a very similar system for profiteers to be able to take advantage of public resources and dollars. These democrats are in lock-step with the local republicans that want to allow this to happen, and the local dem party will keep supporting these same individuals. Then there are some who think we should try to get a seat at their table to get our slice. The table needs to be flipped.
Jon Barton (the recruiter), Fred and Sandy (the cohorts), and their close circle of business friends from the chamber, have had this planned ever since Bob Main let them in the door to replace two dead commissioners. The big oil/coal interests, who Jon and friends plan to appease, will make sure they have the funding to take this county once and for all. By hiring a county Admin/CEO, Jon will be able to direct that person towards rewarding the people that made this all possible.Cha-Ching, Cha-ching, the goals of complete control of all local public resources will be in the hands of the big supporters that Jon is doing business with. This is all here, Mary has this well documented on this blog. It was a perfect storm of death, incompetence and greed that has allowed this coup on Coos County.
Now they just need to spend enough money and ink to con the voters, with stories of how successful this county is going to be, and the players are lined up, no matter how this next election ends, the results will still make this goal achievable.
SCDC has won, thank you Bob, you did your part well.
Geno, your recent candidate filing papers where you listed everything but the kitchen sink, does not list adminsitrator of any local, state, or federal government? Also your very good close highly educated overpaid friend is not LYMAN; it’s LEHMAN. And, you will get argument from many that he should be the county adminsitrator. Please tell us what he has done for Coos County in any public or private job. Thanks.
As a Former Administrator I made the statement, ” We in Coos County already have a Department Head that can and should be given the duties and title of County Administrator and that Person is Mike Lyman, Director of Human Resources.” end of statement. This highly educated individual has all the qualifications to be an Administrator, in his current position, he was hired at a higher salary than the ‘job description’ called for. So, change his job requirements, not his salary and let him do the Commissioner’s bidding! I’m running for position 4 or 5. Geno Landrum
Agreed, Toland, in my opinion the “dire” need for an administrator is a manufactured crisis to support a predetermined end.
The disgusting duo are at it again. There may be two ballot issues to vote no on.
What part of “Coos County is in a Budget Crisis” do they not understand?
So it is an absolute that a new unelected leader of the County will be chosen. WHo will it be —Bill Griles? Terence O’Connor? Oh boy, lets now have five unpaid Commiwssioners who will do the bidding of the Coos nabobs!
Hopefully the paper will correct its reporting in tomorrow’s edition
TOTALLY opposite of what the Wolrd paper is reporting. The World’s guy needs more than a year understanding US law. They say it’s on the ballot “voters will decide”. They say motion to place on ballot “passed unanimously”. How many commissioner candidates will promise to work for $1,000/year. Cribbins would certainly keep her job withn the tribe. Messerle would continue leading the farm. The ballot measure must not just ask if people want an adminitrator. That person would be ineffective without a staff.
