It appears that most of the “dream team” support came from the Coos Bay and North Bend districts with Messerle winning 11 of 18 precincts but the rancher didn’t fare as well in the outlying precincts. Main did better in the rural areas winning seven precincts including his home precincts of Coquille and surrounds.
New Precincts after 2011 Redistricting
Less than 15,000 of the 33,400 registered voters cast a ballot in the commissioners primary races and Main supporters are betting that increased turnout in the fall will be strongest in the rural areas and that Messerle will not increase is May vote count more than 15%. Main is counting on receiving support from Randy Sanne voters to win in the fall.
You mean he might be rude and interrupt me during BOC meetings or misrepresent what I have said when I am not there or sit back and passively watch while his handpicked appointee abuses his constituents during meetings or ignore emails? Or how about stacking the commission with right wingers even though plenty of lefties worked to put him in office? Or trodding all over those same people when they applied for the interim positions and appointing Fred Messerle instead? Oh wait, he has already done all those things and more. What has Main said or done that convinces anyone he will behave any differently if he is reelected?
themguys are right M. Main is well known for carrying a grudge
Thank you Mary

Nothing I have said here, Rickey, in any way is speaking for Randy, they are my feelings only. That said, Randy does intend to issue a statement qualifying his support for Main in the November election.
Mary have you talked to Randy ? if not maybe you should. Maybe its time for Randy to talk for himself and explain what his plans are and who he is supporting just a thought

I have to agree Colandrio, I voted for Main too. I had high hopes for him. He’ll not get my vote again. But I do have concerns of his vindictiveness, I have been told he can be a very nasty guy to those that challenge him. What a guy, huh?
I was willing to give it a try and support Main if only to help Gurney if he prevails over Cribbins but after speaking with Main at the Sentinel election day party. After hearing him laugh that if he loses in November he can just retire and “go fishing” and giving me that stupid Forest Gump grin I realized, once again, this wasn’t about doing what is best for the county its just all about Bob, Bob, Bob… like you Colandrio I believe my vote is precious and I will not waste it on Main or the corporate sponsored Messerle
Though I supported and carried a sign for Main the first time around, his performance as commissioner was lackluster (to say the least) and actually betrayed all the hopes I had for him. I could not vote for him again. At this point, I don’t know if I will even vote in the next election, except to write in none-of-the-above on all the commissioner races. The county is being sold to the highest bidders and the voters are blinded by the dollars.
That’s because the editor of the Sentinel has no regard for the implications on Randy’s political future and will do anything to get Main reelected..
The Sentinel says Sanne pledges support for Main.
Sanne moved here less than ten years ago and was outspent 15 to 1. Still he got the most votes per $ spent of any of the 15 candidates. Unlike Main, Sanne doesn’t carry any baggage and its the baggage that will make it hard for Main to survive November. Luckily for Main, Messerle has plenty of his own baggage and it will be up to Main to figure out how to point that out to the voters while not exposing his own at the same time.
Main may be well known where you live but twenty miles away where I live, he is unknown. One neighbor of 40 years residency recalls him as the President of the Tioga Gun Club. This guy votes name recognition and whatever name the paper tells him like so many other old folks. Another neighbor knows Main as the Assessor. This is typical. Neither voted in May. Main is unknown in the larger cities. Sanne may be your pal, over the years he may have attended more county meetings than others, he may be the nicest person on this round space ball, he may know the county solid waste facility property best, he may have formed a budget during his professional life, but after getting his message out county wide he lost and he did not win a single precinct. He was the only North Bend resident candidate among the three – he was defeated in his home town at least 2 to 1. Several candidates have publicly thanked their supporters, Mr. Sanne has been silent. Unless Mr. Sanne needs a spokesperson like those who speak for Mr. Messerle, it’s time for Mr. Sanne to speak for himself. Be like Mr. Gaston. If you intend to be a write in candidate in November, tell us. If you plan to try again in two years, tell us. If you can not support another candidate, tell us. If nothing else, he can thank Main for trying to gain employment for him.
Main is already well known what he needs is to improve his character if he wants more votes. So far, I haven’t seen any improvement from the man who appointed Messerle and Parry in the first place and the man who has decided Randy Sanne, a man he completely ignored for three years, is now his best friend.
If Main had any character and really cared about the county he would step aside and let Sanne run against Messerle… but his ego gets in the way.
After a second look, it sure do look like the dream team got the most votes where it’s older folks who read the downtown Coos Bay paper and who believe that it must be good if Clark says so.
Exactly as everyone predicted from day one. Main MUST get better known in his former North Bend home town and in the Empire area. Like Roberts opposinbg Roblan, trying to penetrate downtown Coos Bay is a waste of time. When Main publishes his who’s who of supporters, a list longer than Messerle’s ad, he will gain substantially. Messerle will spend wevery penny of the PAC’s money.
