Francis Eatherington, Conservation Director for Cascadia Wildlands a group formed in 1998 that “educates, agitates, and inspires a movement to protect and restore Cascadia’s wild ecosystems.” Francis graciously agreed to speak with MGx today, via Skype and after some colossal software workarounds I can now publish part 1 of a three part interview regarding Oregon Dept of Forestry’s plan to convert the Elliott State Forest from a Habitat Conservation Plan which requires scientists and biologists to sign off in favor of a Forest Management Plan which does not require scientific support. If the proposed plan goes into effect it will break, after only fifteen years, a sixty year commitment by ODF to protect habitat.
Part 2 will be forthcoming and deal more with the Common Schools Fund as well as the unpublished sale called the “Millicoma Between” that threatens the safety of Alleghany farmers.
The Millicoma Between sale is discussed on a separate post
