A video sampling of all five candidates for interim Coos County commissioner each answer questions two and three, in the same order they were interviewed on Wednesday.
How would you streamline the departments or make them more cost efficient?
Have you studied the current budget? Past year budgets? What is your opinion?
Hey folks, the prelims are completed, it’s time to kick back, observe to see how this new fellow will function. Getting the support of a spouse is taken for granted in any good relationship. Let’s not sweat the small stuff. Does he, Mr Perry, have the good of all the people of the county at heart or is it those favored few who are part of the Coos elite? I for one wish him well. Only time will tell.
The requirements to be a viable candidate and be elected to office are far less stringent than what Parry will be put through. In the former, the press traditionally held the job of vetting candidates, alas, they don’t do much more than regurgitate press releases and reprint official bios verbatim.
As for Kenny acting as a sort of co-commissioner, if she brings in some badly needed grant money or helps fund some public service programs and expects to get paid for that, it is probably money well spent.
Thanks again for your indefatiguable (spelling?) efforts to inform the folks of Coos County. First, after viewing Parry and McKeown interviews and the sample responses to the two questions – sure looks like Main and Whitty selected the correct person. Second, re the earlier post questioning Parry’s publishing experience. If Walworth and Jim from Squim are examples of top of the line newspaper publishers and editors, I hope that Parry is found to have zero newspaper experience. Third, isn’t Forestville and Sonoma your former neighborhood? You must be familiar with local papers there and who managed them. Fourth, there is much about Mr. Parry – and Mrs. Parry – on the Internet. He has never claimed to be the principal at Parry Associates. His California, Myrtle Point, Charleston, and other residences for tne past 10 years are easily found. The Parry’s grant writing and monies location expertise appears to be in the medical services industry. Who knows if he can translate success there to the Coos County government. Fifth, he undoubtedly will not get the “thorough” background check that folks like me with DoD and DoE and compartmentalized US governemnt agencies clearances from three lettered organizations that folks have never heard of; but be assured that he will get a good check. Main, Whitty, Colby, Turi, Beebe, Jackson, Ross, Stufflebean, and others got less scrutiny. I understand that the sheriff uses the resources of the state Troopers. They use some resources of the FBI. If in fact Mr. Parry has completed and executed a candidates application form, having less than fact on that form carries a $125,000 fine and five years in the slammer. If he simply executed a county employee application and it is found that he was less than honest, good luck. You can’t fire someone who you have not hired. I do not belive that Mr. Parry is so desparate for the commissioners job that he bulljived us. I am impressed and I fully expect some conflict in votes re ORC and other matters – soon. Sixth, hopefully Mr. Main was speaking in jest in his KCBY interview when he said that the county gets two for one – the people get the sevices of Kendra Sue , the expert in monies location, along with the services of Mr. Parry. I am certain that she probably charges a fee to do the initial paper work and probaly charges some contingency fee if monies are obtained. There is no reason to expect that she would work free for the county. And, last, if there are folks who really want to know all about anyone, for a nominal fee intellius.com will provide you with whatever you want. Hopefully it will be accurate.
