Professional grant writer Cam Parry, of Charleston, is said to be considering throwing his hat into the ring. Parry would bring some sophistication to policy and decision making in Coos County and I wouldn’t be unhappy to see him get the job. Below is some video with Parry in action at the December 27, 2010 BOC meeting… Parry speaks after Tom Stark.
Additionally, one present and one former county employee, both with broad experience in accounting and managing budgets were, as of yesterday, planning to submit their resumes by 5PM today. In all three instances, despite the lack of a populist or labor member on the selection committee, any one of the three will do right by the average working man and fully support small business.
There will be more candidates, of course, but if any of these three take the job, the county will be broadly represented by honest, intelligent and transparent people.
A fourth person may wait until the 2012 elections to enter the commissioner race but would also be a good addition.
As a grant writer working with state and federal agencies all the time, I suspect Parry has a lot of knowledge. As to bringing in jobs, technically this is not in the purview of a county commissioner, although that doesn’t stop them from trying to disastrous effect – the pipeline for example.
Not sure I can rearrange the CAPTCHA code or not, kind of have my hands full with this transition already –
I would welcome a neighbor Charleston resident to the board. All commissioners should not be residents of Coquille. Will someione share with us Coos County citizens what experience Mr. Parry has other than grant writing? Why does he want the job? What experience does he have manageming government bodies – or a large corporate department – or an organization in industry? How many jobs has he “created” – not filled – during his career? How will he bring jobs to Coos County? Will he continue to oppose ORC’s mining efforts? Will he revisit the approved LNG pipeline? What experience does he have working with state and federal organizations? Does he support development of the North Spit with petro chemical industry? Explain his experience managing people who report to a different leader? What is his experience with organized labor? Will he and the other candidates provide a letter from a ohysician stating they are in good health? Main will be busy helping the assessor. Whitty is not 100% (this blog has reported that she has cancer). There is no time for on the job commissioner training.
Also how about moving the CAPTCHA Code above the “POST COMMENT” while you change blog?
