Everyone else knows who Jackson Is

The ink hadn’t dried on the election results before the World’s editorial asked, “Jackson won. Now, who is he?” (The World, Nov.2) Who is he? He’s been the county sheriff for 11 years, and you don’t know who he is? The same editorial mentions “the longtime sheriff’s general popularity.” It seems lots of other people know who he is.

The editorial leaves no doubt in its own mind that Stufflebean lost because Jackson was coy. Jackson played it smart. By being noncommittal about his plans, he gave Kevin Stufflebean nothing concrete to run against.

While Jackson was being coy, the editorial says, “Stufflebean was answering to voters for past words and deeds.” Well, that nailed it right there. The fact is that Stufflebean was running against himself, and he lost. End of story.

Now, what’s this about Sheriff Jackson being coy? Coy? Sheriff Andy Jackson, with 32 years in law enforcement, he’s going to be coy with someone? Oh, please. That’s even harder to believe than Stufflebean lost because he didn’t have anything concrete to run against.
