Commissioner Bob Main took issue with comments made by US Congressman Peter DeFazio after a tour of the Oregon Resources processing facility. DeFazio was widely published as supportive of the county signing off on mineral leases to allow ORC to mine up to six thousand acres of county timberland because it would receive $1.6 million in annual revenue. Unfortunately, this isn’t true and ORC has been unwilling to even guarantee the county the $30,000 per acre it would earn from logging the healthy timber property.
Main suggests the Congressman may have been misled and called a Tuesday morning press conference to help set the record straight.

Do not rule out that DeFazio is in the pocket of industrial develpers. He knows he needs to point to jobs before the next election. I see him as the legs behind the Ports activities and the installation of an LNG export facility. He needs the schmucks in Eugene but the rest of us are expendable.
So why didn’t Bob Main just pick up the phone and call ORC and ask them? Or Peter should fess up and tell us who told him that lie?
Doesn’t matter anyway, this county doesn’t look back to see who is kicking them, their grip on their ankles is just too tight.
