Read Moremost of the “dream team” support came from the Coos Bay and North Bend districts with Messerle winning 11 of 18 precincts but the rancher didn’t fare as well in the outlying precincts. Main did better in the rural areas winning seven precincts including his home precincts of Coquille and surrounds.

If Main really wants to see Messerle defeated this fall he should take a long hunting and fishing trip to Eastern Oregon and throw his support behind Sanne.

Other opportunities such as the CBWR or even mineral leases can be used for non mandated services or extra deputies or other enhancements but simply are not required to save the county from economic ruin.

Read MoreThe Coos County Alliance for Progress apparently invited certain commissioner candidates to interview with its board members, Jon Barton, Al Pettit, Ron Stuntzner, John Knutson and Joe Benetti. The committee has made contributions to Fred Messerle in the amount of $4,000, John Sweet for $1,500, Tim Bishop for $250, Melissa Cribbins for $750 and Mary Loiselle for $250. All accepted the contributions with the exception of Mary Loiselle who had the good character, in my opinion, to return the check.
