The World prints another misleading editorial about 'redundancy'

Considering The World editorial board hardly blinked when Coos County terminated twenty two family wage jobs almost two years ago, touting jobs in their editorials is a specious argument. Simultaneously ignoring the loss of public sector jobs while promoting publicly subsidized private sector jobs reflects either a complete misunderstanding of local economics, a deliberate attempt to mislead the public, or both.

Commission by omission, media complicity in a complex world

In the seven years I have resided in Coos County millions of dollars have flowed through this county in the form of enormous white elephants. The $51M 12″ pipeline. The $35M+ airport terminal. Millions in tax abatement and worthless economic development entities. All sold to the public with help of The World megaphone at the expense of the citizens and to the continued detriment of Coos County. The paper, by providing publicity is complicit and shares responsibility for these white elephants.
