Today I acquired a copy of a most shocking email from Coos County Commissioner Rod Taylor directed toward Oregon State Representative Vikki Breese-Iverson, a Republican from Prineville, Oregon. There is a lot to unpack in the email and it should raise alarm bells about the cognitive stability of the author. Before digging into its contents it is worth noting that this bit of hate and vitriol demonstrates the growing schism within the Republican party, a rift that could offer other parties an opportunity to capitalize upon.  Here is Taylor’s missive which refers to a mailer I have not seen criticizing Noah Robinson, son of the notorios Art Robinson.

Representative Breese-Iverson:

This morning I saw the mailer pictured below, designed to damage Noah Robinson’s reputation and thus his campaign for Oregon Senate District 2. Later, I learned that your husband Bryan Iverson was involved in its production for the benefit of Christine Goodwin, the charlatan who creates hollow PACs to then endorse her for her own benefit.

The content of this mailer is despicable, and I demand that you issue a public statement condemning it. This kind of political whoring is exactly what’s wrong with much of the Party, and with the legislature.

The Robinsons are amazing, brilliant, principled people of exceptional integrity. Through their sign shop that runs in their so-called “compound,” they have enabled powerful signage campaigns for dozens of Oregon Republicans including me, that would otherwise have been impossible.

This mailer has motivated me to make a substantial donation to Noah’s campaign, and I know many others who will now elevate their donations as well. Congratulations to you and your husband; your slimy tactics will now backfire just as surely as are the many lawfare attacks leveled at President Trump by the deep state, and just like them, you and your allies will be covered with the stench of corruption. This is among the most disgusting things I have ever seen, and you all should be deeply ashamed of yourselves.

There is so much to unpack here from Taylor thinking he can demand an apology to his sycophantic and delusional belief that Donald Trump is a victim of the “deep state.”

So let’s begin with his signature line where he reveals his transphobia and ignorance of gender identity, disphoria, euphoria or basically anything different than him/MAGA/Let’s Go Brandon… To quote philospher Karl Popper, “True ignorance is not the absence of knowledge but the refusal to acquire it.”

Not only does he declare his disdain for many of his constituents but by signing his official email in this way he makes the entire county look ignorant for electing someone so cruel, petty and stupidly unprofessional.

Taylor has not responded to my email asking if he is using this signature on all his official emails.

Then there is the ethical question of using county resources, namely the email server to spew his partisan political views.

Obviously, Taylor is in no position to demand anything from anyone.

Mark Twain once said, “The glory which is built upon a lie soon becomes a most unpleasant incumbrance. …  How easy it is to make people believe a lie, and how hard it is to undo that work again!” To paraphrase it’s easier to fool someone than to convince them they have been fooled. Nothing demonstrates the truth of these sentiments better than Taylor’s stubborn inability to recognize the lies and fraud perpetrated on him/MAGA/Let’s Go Brandon by Donald Trump.

In light of all the evidence disproving Trump’s big lie and all the evidence behind his numerous criminal indictments Taylor continues to make excuses  for the former president. Despite the evidence Trump and his family violated the emoluments clause and profited from his tenure, that he sold pardons for millions of dollars, that he is an ajudged rapist and corporate fraudster, and owes more than $500 billion in judgments making him highly succesptible to foreign money influence and that he mishandled classified documents, Taylor would still give Trump the nuclear codes.

Peviously we’ve explored whether the commissioner is studiously obtuse but Taylor’s continued allegiance can only be attributed to a serious cognitive decline or more likely a deeply dishonest character. After all, Taylor is an admitted January 6 insurrectionist which makes him a guntoting traitor to his country.
