The usual suspects are hard at again trying to buy a seat on the Coos County commission. John Sweet has raised more than $22,000 to date including two $5,000 contributions from Coalition for a Healthy Oregon PAC and a Medford resident by the name of Eric Bunn, who is president of a Standish Management, LLC.
Roseburg Forest Products contributed $1,000, DB Western $1,000, Jon Barton $500, Al Pierce, Co $500, and even Caddy McKeown contributed $250. Already Barton is driving around with Sweet magnets on the both sides of his vehicle and we can expect an onslaught of radio and television ads promoting Sweet.
Now is the time to pitch in to help level the playing field. Send your check to the

Remember, despite record spending these same people failed to put Fred Messerle in office. So if money is tight, please volunteer your time to help the Don Gurney campaign
Re Standish Management of San Francisco etc. noted above. An interesting journey today. The names the same but different companies. It appears that Eric Bunn is trustee for dad’s money and formed several financial management companies 15 years ago; all headquartered in the same office in Corvallis; and including Standish Management. He is a long time resident of Medford. Standish of Corvallis owns Rubicon Investments of same address. Other Rubicon companies are at same address; such as Rubicon Property Management; Rubicon Consultants; etc. All are small companies. Now it gets interesting. Eric’s 25 year old son Daniel with absolutely no business experience, four years out of Pepperdine, was appointed to Medford City Council in 2013. He was made council president in 2014. And I thought that we were all screwed up. His employment is as a VP with Rubicon in Corvallis while living full time in Medford. Strange, but better still, it’s no big deal. Sweet’s wife apparently is part of the Bunn clan. In all likelihood money is compliments of family for a family member. Nice write off. Your turn Sweet. Did I get it right?
Your already providing him with a forum to answer this question. If the only way to get an answer to this is to have to call him to get his position, then it must be a secret that he will only divulge to one person at a time. There are a lot of people that want to know where he really stands. Do we all have to call him one at a time to get this answer? If he has flipped on this since he was interviewed by Frank Williams, then he should tell us all in a public forum, this one will do. I know you support him 100%, but you need to know he is sending out more confusion than clarity on this issue. For or against Jordan Cove LNG. That’s not so complicated that it should be doled out to the public one person at a time.
To be clear, Don and I don’t agree 100% of the time but I still think he will make a great commissioner. We do, however, agree on the LNG issue although not entirely for the same reasons. We will see if cares to comment on this forum
Two sources. The first was his interview with Frank Williams, from his own lips he said he was not opposed to LNG. the second source is heresay, Rob Taylor is putting it in print in comments at the Oregonian that Don Gurney is pro LNG.,
If this is wrong we need to know what his position is.
Don does not support LNG or Jordan Cove but the best thing to do is call and ask him yourself. 541-294-3142
They are both pro LNG. One wants to privatize tax revenue. Since they are both wrong on the major issue of this area, we are asked once again to choose the lesser of two evils. Either way the local power structure stays intact.
Where do you get that Gurney is pro-LNG? Simply not the case
I’m not so sure. I know Standish. A small monies management company – about 20 people with offices in several states. The founder and leader was a man named something like Reynard. If its Standish LLC of San Francisco and Palo Alto, they undoubtedly would like to manage Sweets monies thanks to the CEP. Back on Tuesday.
