According to Commissioner Bob Main the next opportunity for all three commissioners to be together to ratify a vote taken during a May work session to approve joining the SCCF (South Coast Community Foundation) will not be until the first of July. Last month the three founding directors resigned and while it may not be related, all previous urgency to complete this component of the larger CEP (Community Enhancement Plan) seems to have faded away. Since the privatization plan was first sprung on the “yahoos” last January the public questioned the rush to finish by May 31, now it appears there isn’t one.
Chiggers and ticks. they give you the same results, but they work on you differently and they can frequently occupy the same region.
All these Eco-development groups are like chiggers, they burrow under your skin to feed on your blood supply. they appear very small and its hard to see them unless you get a spy glass to look close. When you try to scratch them out they make you pay the price with sores and even worse itching and they will usually reappear in a nearby location to repeat the process.
Politicians and ticks have a few similarities, they go after the same blood supply that the chiggers feed on, but unlike chiggers they are easy to see once they start feeding, they stay in one place and engorge themselves and even when you pull it off, there’s a good chance its head will rip off before it gives up its free meal and leaves you with a sore. .
Since I’m making comparisons to blood sucking insects, how about lobbyists and mosquitoes. They both fly-in, take their bounty and then fly-off to use it.
While the Yahoos in this county are looking for lions, tigers and bears, they’re slowly getting devoured by ticks, chiggers and mosquitoes. Two kinds.
OK Monday Morning quarterbacks and frustrated lawyer wannabe’s, please comment, is anything that SCCF doing legal and binding on us?
As I understand: First Cribbins has assured us that the county is not yet a member of SCCF. To form such an organization, to send your public taxpayer monies to a private corporation (SCCF) requires that the county join and accept the Bylaws. Second, Cribbins apparently recognizes her amateur mistake voting in a work session and hoping that we would go away and she keeps delaying the ratification vote. Third, although the county is not a SCCF member, Sweet is a director of the SCCF organization – the number two man – the Vice Chairman. He is actively involved in the organization including the decision making process. He definitely has a personal conflict of interest if he votes to ratify the work session vote. Fourth, the Bylaws changed since the work session vote and more than simple ratification of the earlier vote is required. Fifth, Cribbins has successfully delayed the vote again – now scheduled for July1. Sixth, SCCF will meet June 16, two weeks before the county votes to join SCCF, for some heavy duty decision making including the discussion of agreements with Jordan Cove Energy. Sixth, what agreements? At least demand that SCCF tell the public what they have tentatively agreed to do with the peoples money.
Followers of MGx, please demand that Cribbins find a day between today and June 16 when the three commissioners are available (not the 13th as Cribbins will probably be away (on a vacation, not paid, day) for an outside Energy Trust Board meeting in Portland, and the public is given notice, and vote on this SCCF matter. Demand also that Sweet who now has a vested interest in a favorable vote to join SCCF recuse himself from voting.
That chamber cabal is her neighbors, her friends and her ruby slippered vodka business associate. I suspect the work session was merry, not Mary, until the public caught on. She is between a rock and a hard place and all she can accomplish is drag Sweet down with her. Sweet loses if he votes or recuses himself. If he does the politically correct thing and recuses himself, no SCCF. If he votes he ticks off the voters and he is out – probably only to take a high paid position with SCCF.
My sense is that the entire CEP concept is crumbling, perhaps due to outside forces. Not to suggest that those behind it originally will not attempt a revival but I think the foundation is sinking like just like Coos Bay Library
The other three members are operating as if the county was a member and SCCF bylaws were approved by all members. It’s time for Cribbins to go on record with others that the county is not yet a member. This she will never do.
While I don’t believe Cribbins is a leader in the group, she also doesn’t seem predisposed to butt heads with the chamber cabal.
