The FCC has granted a construction permit for a low-power FM radio station in the bay area. Coos Community Radio, a non-profit organization was formed to take advantage of an historic filing window, not expected to be repeated again, to obtain a non-commercial radio license for hyper local programming.
Low Powered-High Impact! Our community is building a local low powered FM radio station from the ground-up. The purpose is to create a dialogue through unbiased reporting and local music emphasizing youth participation. In case of an environmental catastrophe, the station will be a go-to source for recovery projects that support resiliency efforts. This station may be LOW-POWER but, it will have HIGH IMPACT in the Bay Area.
The construction permit allows 18 months to secure a tower location, a broadcast station and associated equipment. Coos Community Radio currently has six board members and is looking for interested volunteers to help bring this project to reality. If you want to be a part of building a community radio station from the ground up please contact cooscommunityradio@gmail.com
